General Information about 911


Monument Fire District is supported by the El-Paso Teller County E911 Authority.  When you call 911, your call is routed to the El Paso County Sheriff 9-1-1 Center where the call information is taken and appropriate units are dispatched to the incident.

  • Only call 911 in emergency situations.

  • Do not call the fire department directly, call 911 instead

  • Make sure your address is visible from the street during the day and night
     

What Information do I need to provide?


Remember, the questions listed below are only a few of the questions you may be asked by an emergency call taker.  Don't hesitate to tell the call taker any other information you think is important.

 

Fire

  • A phone number where you can be reached

  • The address of the fire

  • The type of fire (brush, vehicle, structure, electrical, etc.)

  • The status of the fire (smoldering, smoking, etc.)

  • Whether there are any injuries

  • Whether everyone is accounted for

  • Any other pertinent information
     

Medical

  • A phone number where you can be reached

  • The address of the Medical

  • The specific location of medical (hallway, room number, etc.)

  • Age and gender of the patient

  • Details about medical (if known)

  • History of illness and medication

  • Any other pertinent information
     

Traffic Accident

  • A phone number where you can be reached

  • Address or intersection of the accident

  • The extent of the accident (fender-bender, roll over, etc.)

  • Whether there are any injuries or people trapped

  • Any other circumstances (fire, smoke, fluids leaking, etc.)


Evacuation Assistance


If you have a medical condition, a physical disability, or are on oxygen, please call us to register you for our evacuation assistance program at 719-484-0911. What this means is if you should have an emergency or if your neighborhood needs to be evacuated for any reason, our firefighters will be alerted right away to run to your house first to assure that you vacate the house safely.
